Key Responsibilities of the Social Worker Role

As a Social Worker within the Salford Older Adults CMHT, your core responsibilities will include:

Care and Support Planning

  • Reviewing and assessing the care and support needs of older adults experiencing mental health difficulties

  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing personalised support plans that promote individuals’ rights, wellbeing, and independence

  • Managing and mitigating associated risks effectively while respecting client autonomy

Legal and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensuring all care and support planning aligns with key legislation, including:

    • Care Act 2014

    • Mental Capacity Act 2005

    • Mental Health Act 1983

  • Preparing accurate and comprehensive documentation in compliance with these legal frameworks

Multi-Disciplinary and Interagency Collaboration

  • Working closely within a multi-disciplinary team, including health professionals, social care workers, and external agencies

  • Facilitating effective communication and collaboration to coordinate holistic care

  • Supporting and mentoring less experienced colleagues and social work students

Professional Development and Supervision

  • Engaging in regular line management and clinical supervision to support skill development and reflective practice

  • Participating in continuous professional development tailored to individual learning needs

  • Contributing to a positive team culture that prioritises staff wellbeing and peer support


Essential Qualifications and Skills for Social Worker Applicants

To be considered for this Social Worker role, you must meet the following essential criteria:

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Recognised Social Work qualification such as Degree, CQSW, CSS, Dip SW, or equivalent

  • Current professional registration with Social Work England

Professional Experience and Skills

  • Experience or interest in working with older adults and mental health services

  • Ability to conduct strength-based assessments and develop effective care plans

  • Proficient understanding and application of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and Mental Health Act

  • Strong safeguarding skills, including carrying out Section 42 enquiries

  • Effective workload management and prioritisation skills to meet deadlines and quality standards

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships with service users, families, carers, and multi-agency teams

  • Competent IT skills for accurate record-keeping and reporting using relevant software systems

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience supporting less experienced staff or mentoring students within adult social care

  • Driving licence with access to a vehicle meeting insurance and MOT requirements

Working Pattern and Location Details
