Champion and lead social care and safeguarding within the Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard Mental Health Teams

Additional Role Information
At the Hub, the Senior Social Worker provides intensive support and professional supervision to social workers. ELFT supports continuous learning through its Social Work Learning and Development Project, including:

ASYE programme for newly qualified social workers

CPD pathways (AMHP, Leadership, Academy, Practice Educator, ASYE Assessor training)

Bespoke training opportunities available via annual appraisal
Person Specification
Essential:
-
Appropriate social work qualification
-
Registration with Social Work England
-
Master’s degree or equivalent post-qualifying training
-
Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) training/qualification or willingness to train within one year
-
Substantial post-qualification experience demonstrating advanced level practice
-
Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, theory, and policy related to adult and children’s social care
-
Experience with assessments focused on personalisation, choice, control, and care planning
-
Understanding and use of personal budgets and direct payments
-
Experience supervising and mentoring others
-
Evidence of multidisciplinary and partnership working with service users and carers, including in challenging situations
-
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with diverse stakeholders
-
Ability to manage challenging meetings effectively
-
Experience using electronic record systems and producing timely reports
-
Analytical skills for service user and carer information
-
Experience conducting small scale audits and surveys
-
Understanding of basic research methods
-
Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice

Ability to work sensitively with diverse needs and environments

Other relevant post-qualification training (e.g., CBT, family therapy, Best Interest Assessor training)
