Job Summary

Walnut Tree Health Centre in Milton Keynes is hiring one part-time receptionist to cover the following shifts (22.45 hours per week):

• Tuesday: 13:00 – 18:30

• Wednesday to Friday: 07:45 – 13:00

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and assist them through the appointment system

• Book appointments both in person and by telephone

• Handle telephone queries, requests for information, results, and visits using the computer system and practice protocols

• Liaise with doctors and nurses about patient queries and relay messages as needed

• Follow up on appointment requests, hospital information, and arrange transport or interpreters

Walnut Tree Health Centre is a busy, friendly GP surgery serving approximately 14,000 patients with a diverse demographic. As a training practice, we collaborate closely with our Primary Care Network (PCN) and strive to continually improve patient services while valuing work-life balance.

Our clinical team includes:

• 3 GP Partners and 3 salaried GPs

• Prescribing Nurse Practitioner and Paramedic

• Practice nursing team covering chronic disease management, health screening, and treatment services

• Prescribing pharmacist

• Management and admin team providing support

• Various trainees including Foundation Year 2 doctors, specialty trainees, and student nurses

Person Specification

Essential

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal (face-to-face and telephone manner)

• Computer literate

• Caring and empathetic attitude

• Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure

• Respect for patient confidentiality at all times

Desirable

• Knowledge of System One

• Experience in Primary Care environment
