Key Responsibilities of the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician Role

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining the physical infrastructure of healthcare facilities across multiple locations, including Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Wycombe General Hospital, and other community properties.

Core Duties:

  • Perform skilled maintenance and repairs in your core trade (electrical, plumbing, or carpentry) ensuring safety and compliance with NHS standards.

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections and commissioning tests as per scheduled requirements.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex faults using technical knowledge and cause-effect analysis.

  • Work collaboratively with Estates Management to ensure building systems and infrastructure operate safely and efficiently.

  • Participate in on-call rota and emergency response duties as needed.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and compliance checks.

  • Support health and safety protocols, following HTM (Health Technical Memoranda) and HBN (Health Building Notes) guidelines.

  • Contribute to a positive team environment, supporting colleagues and sharing expertise.


Essential Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications Required:

  • Core trade qualification in Electrical, Plumbing, or Carpentry.

  • Approved Person Qualification or equivalent (desirable).

  • Computer literacy to document maintenance activities and assist with asset management systems (preferred).
