Main Duties
- 
Collaborate with individuals, families, and caregivers to conduct Care Act 2014 assessments and evaluate needs.
 - 
Manage both short-term and long-term cases.
 - 
Lead safeguarding inquiries and handle Court of Protection matters.
 - 
Work closely with healthcare and multidisciplinary professionals.
 - 
Support carers in complex situations.
 - 
Record information and activity accurately and timely in social care records.
 - 
Maintain up-to-date local knowledge of services to signpost and advocate for customers.
 - 
Apply council policies to support planning, risk management, and legal compliance (Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Continuing Health Care guidance).
 - 
Chair Best Interests meetings as required by the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
 - 
Provide advice and support to colleagues to meet legal and procedural requirements.
 - 
Identify adults at risk and undertake safeguarding investigations under section 42 of the Care Act.
 - 
Provide monthly one-to-one supervision to allocated staff and support newly qualified social workers (ASYE).
 - 
Participate in Practice Education Professional Standards (PEPS) training and supervise student placements.
 - 
Represent the council in multi-disciplinary settings and prepare reports for court hearings.
 - 
Follow all corporate and departmental policies and contribute to team development and service improvement.
 - 
Organize and lead peer group development sessions.
 - 
Engage in supervision and appraisal processes, ensuring continuous professional development.
 - 
Act as a professional ambassador for the council in all interactions.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- 
Essential: Degree or equivalent experience/skills; ITQ 2 or equivalent IT skills; professional qualification required for role.
 - 
Desirable: Postgraduate qualification (e.g., Practice Educator, Best Interests Assessor, Approved Mental Health Professional).
 
Experience
- 
Essential: Registered Social Worker with Social Work England; strengths-based social work with adults; safeguarding expertise; strong interpersonal and communication skills; proficient in Microsoft and electronic social care record software; able to write clear, complex reports; fluent English.
 - 
Desirable: Experience in formal supervision and appraisal; post-qualification learning and development; professional development evidence; supervisory experience.
