Part-Time Housekeeper at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust

Job Summary

There is 1 vacancy available for 30 hours per week, working 4 shifts on a rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays.

As part of the Facilities Team in Housekeeping and Domestic Services, the Housekeeper will carry out catering and cleaning duties based at The Poplars, Hemsworth. The role reports to Housekeeping and Domestic Supervisors and the Housekeeping Manager and requires flexibility in duties.

Main Duties

  • Clean all areas to meet National Standards of Cleanliness, including signing off completed work sheets.

  • Serve food and complete relevant paperwork, including food temperature checks.

  • Prepare small amounts of food from the freezer.

  • Work effectively within a team and prioritise workload.

Job Description

The Housekeeper will provide a high standard of catering and housekeeping duties in a mental health inpatient environment, following national standards of cleanliness, infection control, and food safety.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Deliver full meal and snack service to ward service users.

  • Receive and store food according to Trust policies.

  • Prepare, pack, and serve menu items in line with food safety (HACCP) and health & safety procedures.

  • Wash all tableware and maintain cleanliness of the catering department.

  • Communicate with nursing, catering, and dietitian teams regarding special diets, allergies, and care plans.

  • Record food storage and regeneration details accurately.

  • Ensure menus are properly displayed for meal times.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety (or willingness to complete within 12 months, training available).

  • Desirable: Experience in industrial cleaning/catering and customer care or patient-focused roles.
