About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity in our Family Placement Team for a Supervising Social Worker who will share our commitment to improving outcomes for those children in our care. This part-time role involves supporting our local Foster Carers, Children, and Young People.

About the Team

Family Placement is a small, close-knit team within Children’s Social Care that is built on strong peer support and shared values. We know social work is not always easy, which is why we are committed to creating a supportive, resilient, and inclusive environment.

You will benefit from dedicated administrative support, comprehensive learning and development led by our passionate Principal Social Worker, and regular supervision, resilience groups, well-being events, and peer-to-peer collaboration.

We work closely with children’s social workers to provide consistent, high-quality support to vulnerable children. Our team members are given the time to build meaningful relationships with families, backed by approachable leadership, a culture of shared problem-solving, and expert guidance when needed.

We are focused on providing a safe, secure, and psychologically supportive base so our staff can thrive, both professionally and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • To supervise and support Foster Carers and young people appropriately. Completing statutory visits and annual reviews.

  • To support the recruitment and assessment process of Foster Carers to enable more of our vulnerable children to be placed in local placements, near to their family and friends.

  • To work with the children’s social worker to achieve permanence for the children, whether this be through long-term fostering or special guardianship.

  • The role will enable you to continually develop your skills and knowledge, as well as contribute to the ongoing improvement of the services and support we deliver.

Other Important Information

  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience of working within the current Social Care System and Framework.

  • Social Work England registration fees can be claimed back from the Council.
