An opportunity has arisen for a Desktop Technician to join the Digital Services Team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Working as part of the Service Support Team, you will be responsible for resolving incidents recorded by the Service Desk. The post will be based at the Manufacturing and Innovation Hub premises in Seaton Delaval, providing on-site support for IT hardware and systems, as well as support services to other Trust sites such as:

Main Duties of the Job
The Desktop Technician role includes:
-
Installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all PC hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance

Troubleshooting problem areas (in person, by phone, or email) and providing end-user assistance as needed
-
Supporting Windows operating systems, desktop hardware, and Microsoft Office suites
-
Liaising with other service delivery teams and third-party suppliers
-
Providing customer-focused support and resolving issues in line with the Service Level Agreement
-
Managing workload independently to meet response and resolution targets

Job Responsibilities

Provide timely and effective support for all PC equipment and software throughout client organisations
-
Register, install, and configure new IT desktop equipment according to Trust standards
-
Participate in project work and escalate unresolved incidents to the Senior Desktop Analyst
-
Participate in the on-call rota and liaise with third-party suppliers for technical issues
-
Troubleshoot and resolve Service Desk incidents within agreed terms of the Service Level Agreement
-
Maintain accurate records of installations and disposals
-
Analyse and resolve a range of incidents, including system errors, user issues, and network faults
-
Administer desktop estate including asset management, endpoint security, and software deployment
-
Document and maintain image/build library for desktop and laptop computers
-
Manage inventory, license management, and software metering tools
-
Comply with service security policies and ensure systems are secure
-
Supervise and mentor junior staff in line with service values
-
Undergo training and attend team/service meetings
-
Assist in research projects as needed

Relevant degree or demonstrable equivalent experience

Experience and Knowledge
Essential:

Specialist knowledge from degree-level education

Experience of working to SLA targets and managing own workload
Desirable:

Knowledge of network fundamentals and Microsoft-based server platforms

Familiarity with ITIL Service Management

Experience in coaching, mentoring, and quality improvement tools
